Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Segun Aina as the new registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, succeeding Professor Ishaq Oloyede whose second term expires on July 31, 2026.
The appointment was announced on Thursday in a statement by presidential adviser Bayo Onanuga.
Aina, a professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, is expected to assume office after Oloyede completes his tenure.
According to the presidency, Aina specialises in digital infrastructure, examination systems and institutional reform, with more than 15 years of experience spanning technology, policy and public-sector transformation.
He earned a degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent and postgraduate degrees in Internet Computing, Network Security and Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University.
The statement said Aina first worked with JAMB during his National Youth Service and later advised several examination bodies, including NECO and NABTEB, on ICT systems and examination integrity.
At 39, Aina became one of Nigeria’s youngest professors of Computer Engineering and is now set to become JAMB’s youngest registrar, the presidency said.
Tinubu said he expected Aina to build on reforms introduced under Oloyede and strengthen the operations of the examination body through technology-driven innovation and institutional reforms.
