NPMCN To Confer Fellowships On Graduates At 2026 Convocation

The National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) say it will confer fellowships and postgraduate degrees on successful candidates at its 2026 convocation ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 17 .
The institution said the ceremony which will be held at the college premises will mark another year of postgraduate medical and dental training.
The college’s president, Professor Anthony N. Ikefuna, said the convocation would recognise the resilience of resident doctors, the contributions of trainers and the role of the supervising ministry in postgraduate medical education.
The college, established in 1979, trains, assesses and certifies medical and dental doctors as specialists and consultants across various fields of medicine and dentistry.
It offers programmes which provides structured training for resident doctors through curricula, faculty supervision, research monitoring and regular accreditation of training centres.
Ikefuna said the college currently has 17 faculties covering specialties including anaesthesia, dental surgery, family medicine, emergency medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, paediatrics, pathology, psychiatry, public health and community medicine, and radiation and clinical oncology.
He added that the Faculty of Radiation and Clinical Oncology was the newest faculty, focusing on the use of ionising radiation and medications in eliminating cancer cells while sparing healthy tissues.
Prof. Ikefuna said at the convocation, successful candidates will receive the Doctor of Medicine degree and fellowships of the college in various specialties, while some graduates will receive post-fellowship diplomas.
The college President revealed that Four senior fellows will also be awarded the Distinguished Fellowship of the College for what the institution described as landmark contributions to medical practice, education, administration and the development of the college.
He said the event would also provide an opportunity to strengthen links between its graduates and the wider alumni body, while encouraging resident doctors to complete their academic training.
The college President added that the institution also conducts postgraduate examinations, accredits hospitals for residency training, organises professional development programmes and runs public enlightenment initiatives, including bimonthly webinars.
