Seven vehicles were involved in a crash at Kara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway early on Tuesday after a container truck developed a mechanical fault, Lagos State emergency authorities has said.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said its response team was dispatched at 6:05 a.m. after receiving a distress call about the accident near the OPIC area.
The agency said the 40-foot container truck, which had no registration number, lost control while in motion and rammed into six other vehicles.
It added that the other vehicles included a Toyota Hilux, an interstate bus, a Hyundai Odyssey, a Sienna, a Toyota Highlander and a Mitsubishi Hilux.
LASEMA said it coordinated recovery efforts with the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Nigeria Police Force, while private towing trucks were deployed to remove the vehicles from the carriageway.
It added that all the affected vehicles were evacuated to the roadside, allowing traffic to resume on the bridge.
According to LASEMA, no deaths or injuries were recorded in the accident.
The agency revealed that LASTMA officials remained at the scene to monitor traffic and prevent further obstruction.
LASEMA said the recovered vehicles were handed over to the police for documentation and further action.

The Permanent Secretary also urges motorists, particularly operators of articulated vehicles, to ensure regular maintenance of their vehicles, adhere strictly to roadworthiness regulations, and exercise caution while plying major highways.
LASEMA urged members of the public to report emergencies and road traffic incidents through its toll-free 767 and 112 emergency lines.
