The Lagos Police Command has detained two suspected cultists, aged 25 and 26, and recovered a locally made cut-to-size pistol in the Ajah area of the state.
The Police Spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi, who disclosed this in a statement said operatives of the command’s Violent Crime Response Unit apprehended the suspects following credible intelligence about their alleged involvement in cult-related activities around Addo Road, Ajah.
She said the suspects admitted during interrogation to belonging to a cult group.
“The suspects during interrogation confessed to being members of the Eiye Confraternity.
“They subsequently led the operatives to the Waterside area of Addo, Ajah, where the locally made cut-to-size pistol was recovered,” Adebisi said.
According to her, the suspects are in police custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of their alleged activities and identify other persons who might be connected to the crimes.
She quoted the state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, as restating the command’s commitment to combating cultism and other criminal activities through intelligence-led operations.
SP Adebisi urged members of the public to provide credible information to the police to support crime prevention and enhance the safety and security of residents across the state.
