Adeboye Says God Has Determined Nigeria’s Next Leader

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, has said Nigeria’s next president ahead of the 2027 general elections has already been determined by God. Speaking at a workers’ meeting at Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday, Adeboye said the outcome of the election was beyond human control, stressing that divine will would prevail.“The next president has already been decided by God who owns the universe. It is not something we can determine by human effort alone. The will of God will be done,” he said.

He urged Nigerians not to be anxious over political developments, adding that God remains sovereign over the nation’s future.“I never said we should not be involved in politics, but we must understand that God has the final say in the affairs of men,” the Clergyman said.

Adeboye called on citizens to remain prayerful and peaceful as political activities gather pace ahead of the 2027 elections.

The cleric also responded to remarks attributed to activist Omoyele Sowore, who described him, David Oyedepo and William Kumuyi as “fathers of Christians in Nigeria.”Adeboye rejected the description, saying he does not consider himself a father of all Christians in the country, saying that national Christian leadership rests with the Christian Association of Nigeria.

He also dismissed claims on social media that the Redeemed Christian Church of God is aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress, saying the church has consistently spoken on national issues, including economic hardship. Adeboye added that he would join a peaceful protest if called by the Christian Association of Nigeria over governance concerns, stressing that his stance is based on principle rather than politics.“I have protested before during the Goodluck Jonathan administration,” he said.

He added that while politicians are welcome to attend church services, they would not be allowed to speak or use the altar for campaign purposes.
