Liverpool Sign Munoz From Osasuna In £34.5m Deal

Liverpool have signed Spanish winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna after activating his 40 million euro (£34.5 million) release clause, the Premier League club said on Thursday.

The 22-year-old, who is with Spain’s squad at the World Cup in the United States, completed a medical on Wednesday after Liverpool sent club staff to oversee the process.

The club said Munoz has agreed a six-year contract at Anfield, with the transfer fee to be paid in two instalments.

The player who can operate on either wing made his Spain debut in March He scored seven goals and provided five assists in 36 appearances for Osasuna last season.

Newcastle United had been in advanced talks to sign the forward following Anthony Gordon’s move to Barcelona, but Liverpool secured the deal.

The Spaniard becomes Liverpool’s first signing since Andoni Iraola succeeded Arne Slot as head coach earlier this month.

A product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, Munoz later joined Real Madrid, making two senior substitute appearances before moving to Osasuna in July 2025 for five million euros.

Madrid retained a 50% sell-on clause and matching rights on the player but opted against a return amid concerns over his playing opportunities under manager Jose Mourinho.

Barcelona also showed interest before completing the signing of Gordon in a deal reported to be worth more than £69 million.
