Hilda Baci Honoured As Guinness World Records Icon

Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has been recognised as a Guinness World Records Icon. Baci has been honoured for her record-breaking achievements across Africa after her historic cooking marathon captivated millions.

Baci first developed her passion for cooking as a child, helping at her mother’s restaurant in Abuja, before studying sociology and exploring careers in television and acting.

She became a professional chef in 2020 and launched her restaurant, My Food by Hilda, while building a large online following through cooking content and recipe sharing.

Her global profile soared in May 2023 when she set the Guinness World Records title for the longest cooking marathon in Lagos, that stood at 93 hours and 11 minutes.

The feat attracted thousands of supporters and widespread attention on social media, with demand for updates reportedly overwhelming the Guinness World Records website.

Although the record has since been surpassed, Guinness World Records said Baci’s achievement inspired thousands of record applications from Nigeria and other African countries, cementing her legacy in the record-breaking community.

Guinness World Records said her impact on record-breaking culture across Africa remains significant, with her achievements continuing to inspire aspiring record holders throughout the continent.

In September 2025, Baci added two more Guinness World Records titles after teaming up with Gino Nigeria to prepare the largest serving of rice and the largest serving of jollof rice, weighing 8,780 kilograms.

The record-breaking dish, prepared in Victoria Island, Lagos, used thousands of kilograms of rice, meat and pepper mix and was later distributed to more than 16,600 people.

Baci, who credits consistency, strong systems and humility for her success, said her love for food remains deeply rooted in her Nigerian heritage.
