Gunmen Kill Four In Fresh Benue Attack

Four persons have been confirmed dead in a fresh attack on Aila Odugheho in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.

The Benue State Police Command confirmed the incident, which occurred on Sunday morning when the victims were reportedly ambushed while walking along a rural road to a nearby community.

Chairman of Agatu Local Government Area, Melvin Ejeh, who also confirmed the incident, said recent security measures have made it difficult for attackers to invade communities, forcing them to adopt ambush tactics.

He added that clearance operations are ongoing in surrounding forests, with security personnel and local vigilantes deployed to restore calm.

Police spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, says officers have been sent to the area, and efforts are underway to track down those responsible.

The latest attack adds to growing concerns over renewed violence in parts of Agatu, despite increased security presence.
