FG Urged To Support State Assemblies On Implementation Of State Police

The Allied People’s Movement Presidential Candidate and Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has called the Bola Tinubu led administration to direct the state houses of assembly to make a law that will help to create state police for improved security against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other insecurity tendencies.

Makinde added that the South Western Security Network Outfits (Amotekun) had succeeded due to the joint cooperation of south west governors for regional protection since 2019.

The Oyo Governor said the move by the Nigerian government to create state police through the office of the Inspector General of Police will further delay community policing strategies.

The call for state police has been ignited against following the recent Kidnapping of over 40 pupils from their school in Oyo state, Southwest Nigeria.
