Trump Says Iran Peace Deal To Be Signed On Sunday

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday that a long-awaited agreement aimed at ending the war in the Middle East was scheduled to be signed on Sunday, a move he said would pave the way for the reopening of the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

“The Deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is OPEN TO ALL,” Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform.

The Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route for oil and gas exports, has been closely watched by markets and governments amid regional tensions. According to reports carried by Iranian state media, Trump’s comments appeared to conflict with statements from Iran’s foreign ministry earlier on Saturday, which indicated that no agreement would be signed on Sunday.

Neither the White House nor Iranian officials immediately provided further details on the status of the negotiations or the terms of any potential agreement.

The conflicting statements have raised uncertainty over the timing of a possible breakthrough in efforts to end the conflict and restore normal maritime traffic through the waterway.

CliqMetro reports that the Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and is one of the world’s most important energy transit corridors, carrying a significant share of global crude oil exports.
