Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday represented President Bola Tinubu at the 100th birthday celebration of Afenifere leader Reuben Fasoranti in Akure, Ondo State, where he praised the elder statesman’s contributions to national unity, democracy and justice.
Shettima described Fasoranti as a steadfast advocate for the unity of Nigeria and the dignity of its citizens. He commended the Afenifere leader for his longstanding service to education, democratic development and the defence of justice and fairness across generations.
According to the vice president, Fasoranti devoted much of his life to supporting underrepresented groups and speaking against oppression.“Indeed, the elder statesman has spent most of his century of life sacrificing his comfort to fight for the under-represented, while lending his voice to causes against oppression,” Shettima said.
During the visit, the vice president also commissioned a flyover project named after Fasoranti by Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
