Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde Emerges APM 2027 Presidential Candidate

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has named Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde its candidate for the 2027 presidential election. The endorsement came today at a special gathering of the party’s 36 state chairmen and delegates.

APM National Chairman Dr. Yusuf Dantalle presented Makinde with the party’s presidential flag, confirming his candidacy.

In his acceptance, Makinde promised to reform Nigeria’s security architecture. He said governors must get more control over security operations to be held accountable.

“The safety and security of Nigerians will never be treated as a political slogan. Under my leadership, it will be a sacred national responsibility,” Makinde stated.

On the economy, he pledged fair fuel pricing that reflects Nigeria’s production, not foreign markets. He also promised to restructure the NNPCL into a lean, commercial company and reform refinery ownership.

The APM Candidate promised that food security would be a major priority, “starting with gathering accurate data on agricultural capacity to fix gaps in production, processing, storage, and logistics”.

Makinde described as unacceptable that a nation blessed with abundant resources still has millions of citizens going to bed hungry.

Dr. Dantalle said Makinde’s emergence marks a new chapter for Nigeria, calling for leadership focused on security, education, healthcare and jobs.

He added that power must return to the people, with citizens at the center of government.
