The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said on Sunday it recorded successful security operations during the Ekiti State governorship election, which it said ended peacefully across the southwestern state.
The agency said it began election security activities with confidence-building patrols on the eve of the vote, covering major parts of the state to reassure residents and demonstrate readiness to maintain a secure environment for the exercise.
NSCDC said on election day it personnel were deployed to polling units and other strategic locations, where they conducted monitoring and surveillance operations aimed at supporting the peaceful conduct of the poll and preventing security breaches.
The corps commended residents of Ekiti State, political actors and other stakeholders for their cooperation and commitment to democratic principles. It added that their orderly conduct contributed significantly to the peaceful atmosphere during the election.
The NSCDC said the proactive deployment and vigilance of its officers throughout the electoral process reflected the agency’s commitment to professionalism, inter-agency cooperation and the protection of democratic values.
The corps reaffirmed its commitment to supporting credible, peaceful and violence-free elections across Nigeria and thanked stakeholders whose collaboration helped ensure a smooth electoral process.
