NCC Promotes Digital Inclusion Through Girls ICT Programme

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has commended the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, for promoting digital inclusion through initiatives aimed at equipping young girls with ICT skills and opportunities.

The NCC gave the commendation while hosting 185 contestants of the 2026 National Girls in ICT Competition on an excursion to the National Communications Museum in Abuja. Representing the Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Aminu Maida, Director of Research and Development, Babagana Digima, said the programme aligns with the NCC’s digital literacy drive and efforts to inspire greater participation of girls in ICT and STEM fields.

CliqMetro reports that the students, drawn from across the country’s geo-political zones, were taken through Nigeria’s telecommunications history, from the colonial-era postal system and telegraph services to the digital age. NCC officials said exposing young people to the evolution of communications technology would help nurture the next generation of innovators and leaders in Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
