U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested a Nigerian man in Los Angeles over allegations of identity theft, bank fraud and possession of stolen mail, authorities said.
ICE said the suspect, identified as 49-year-old Etinosa Osahon, was arrested on May 21 and is being held pending removal proceedings. According to the agency, his criminal record includes offences related to stealing, possession of stolen mail, bank fraud and aggravated identity theft.
The agency disclosed the arrest in a statement posted on its official social media account, saying Osahon remains in ICE custody while immigration proceedings continue.
Osahon arrest comes amid increased immigration enforcement efforts by U.S. authorities targeting foreign nationals with criminal records. ICE did not provide additional details on the underlying offences or the timeline for Osahon’s removal proceedings.
