Alli Wins Oyo APC Primary Amid Controversy

Oyo South Senator Sharafadeen Alli has emerged as the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Oyo State, securing the party’s ticket for the 2027 gubernatorial election.

According to the final results announced by the party, Alli polled 578,143 votes to defeat former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, who garnered 19,193 votes, and another aspirant.

Adelabu had resigned from his ministerial position to contest for the APC governorship ticket. The primary election, however, was overshadowed by allegations of irregularities raised by Adelabu, who claimed the exercise was manipulated in several parts of the state.

Speaking to journalists after casting his vote on Thursday, Adelabu alleged that reports from across Oyo State indicated widespread misconduct during the exercise.”I must sound this note of warning that it is not this way in a lot of other wards,” he said.

He further alleged that voting commenced ahead of the scheduled time in some locations and that results were predetermined.
