Court Jails Nigeria’s Ex-Power Minister Saleh Mamman 75 Years for Corruption

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court on Wednesday sentenced former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, to 75 years imprisonment over corruption linked to the Mambilla and Zungeru hydroelectric power projects.

The judge convicted Mamman on a 12-count charge and ruled that the sentences would run consecutively. Justice Omotosho also ordered that the prison term should commence from the day the former minister is arrested and directed security agencies to apprehend him wherever he is found.

The court further ordered the forfeiture of all recovered funds and properties linked to the case to the Federal Government, while directing Mamman to refund the outstanding balance of the alleged N22 billion connected to the projects.
