Lyon Defeat Arsenal 3-1 To Reach Women’s Champions League Final

Olympique Lyonnais reached the final of the women’s Champions League on Saturday, after defeating reigning champions Arsenal 3-1 in the second leg to secure a 4-3 aggregate victory.

German forward Jule Brand scores the decisive late goal, scoring in the 86th minute at the Groupama Stadium.

The eight-time champions, advanced to the final in Oslo on May 23, where they will face either Bayern Munich or Barcelona.

The hosts went ahead in the tie in the 36th minute when Kadidiatou Diani capitalised on defensive hesitation to score from a tight angle. Arsenal responded through Alessia Russo, who found the net in a crowded penalty area to level the tie at 3-3 on aggregate, putting extra time within reach.

However, Brand’s late intervention proved decisive as Lyon held on through nine minutes of added time to seal their place in the final.

Bayern Munich and Barcelona, tied 1-1 after the first leg, will meet in Spain on Sunday to determine Lyon’s opponent.
