Tinubu Urges Unity, Defends Reforms In Eid Message

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu urged Muslims to embrace sacrifice, unity and compassion as they celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, while defending his administration’s economic reforms and pledging to defeat insecurity across the country.

In a message marking the Muslim festival, Tinubu said the reforms introduced by his government over the past three years were beginning to stabilise Africa’s largest economy and position Nigeria as an attractive destination for investment.“The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” Tinubu said.

He added that the measures would continue to create jobs and expand economic opportunities.

The president acknowledged that Nigerians were still facing security challenges despite recent gains by the country’s armed forces and intelligence agencies. He said though terrorists and bandits continued to attack some communities but assured citizens that the government would ultimately defeat “all the forces of evil”.

Tinubu also urged Nigerians to pray for peace, support the less privileged and strengthen national unity irrespective of ethnic or religious differences.

The president said his administration would continue investing in security, infrastructure, agriculture and human capital development to fulfil Nigeria’s economic potential. Eid-el-Kabir, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God.
