Tinubu Nominates Tegbe As Minister Of Power

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Mr Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of Power, subject to confirmation by the Senate.

The nomination, conveyed to the National Assembly in line with constitutional provisions, follows the resignation of former minister Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue elective office.

Tegbe, an indigene of Oyo State, brings over 35 years of experience in fiscal policy, economic reform, and governance across both public and private sectors. He previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led initiatives focused on institutional transformation, regulatory reform, and investment strategy.

He is currently the Director General and Global Liaison for the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, where he oversees efforts to deepen development cooperation between Nigeria and China, including coordination of engagements aligned with the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) framework.

According to the State House, Tegbe has also been involved in key reforms within Nigeria’s power sector, particularly in regulatory and institutional processes involving agencies such as the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission and the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company.

The presidency said the nomination is expected to reinforce ongoing reforms aimed at improving grid stability, boosting investment, and enhancing service delivery in the power sector under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The statement, signed by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, noted that the President expects the minister-designate, if confirmed, to deploy his expertise to deliver measurable improvements in electricity supply across the country.
