Plateau Court Adjourns Anguwan Rukuba Attack Case Proceedings

Two High Courts in Nigeria’s Plateau State on Friday adjourned proceedings in the case over the Anguwan Rukuba attack in Jos North Local Government Area until May 26 for ruling on the Case Management Conference.

Four suspects standing trial before High Courts 9 and 12 were arraigned on charges including criminal conspiracy and terrorism. The defendants pleaded not guilty to all charges.

At Friday’s hearing, Plateau State Attorney General Philemon Daff, representing the prosecution, and defence counsel Mustapha Shaba Ibrahim presented written submissions focusing on the proposed commencement date for trial and procedures to guide the case.

Presiding judge Justice Dafur Fomyon said the court would review the arguments submitted by both parties before delivering a ruling on May 26.

Lawyers for both the prosecution and defence who spoke after the sitting expressed confidence in the judicial process and pledged commitment to ensuring justice in line with the law. Family members of the suspects appealed to authorities to ensure fairness and respect for the rights of all parties involved in the case.
