President Bola Tinubu has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary, securing the party’s ticket for the 2027 election after polling more than 10.9 million votes across the country, according to results announced on Sunday.
Tinubu defeated his sole challenger, businessman Stanley Osifo, in a direct primary conducted across the APC’s 8,809 wards nationwide. State collation results showed the incumbent president recording landslide victories in most states, while Osifo failed to secure votes in several areas. He polled 16,504 votes during the primaries.
The primary followed endorsements from key APC organs, including the National Executive Committee, the National Working Committee and the Progressive Governors Forum, which had earlier backed Tinubu’s bid for a second term.
State governors and party officials who served as collation officers described the exercise as peaceful and transparent, saying the outcome reflected strong support for Tinubu within the ruling party.
The result formally positions Tinubu as the APC’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, where he is expected to seek a second and final four-year term under Nigeria’s constitution.
