The Lagos Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service generated more than 253 billion naira in revenue between January and April 2026. This marked a 40.9% increase from the same period a year earlier, officials said.

Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs Mohammed Babandede made the disclosure during an official visit to the Command, where he commended officers for their performance and urged them to uphold integrity and professionalism.“On behalf of the CGC, we are proud of the achievement you have recorded,” Babandede said.

He also said the Customs Service leadership remained committed to improving staff welfare through better accommodation and expanded healthcare access for serving and retired officers.

Customs Area Controller Hauwa Abubakar said the Command generated 253.39 billion naira in the first four months of 2026, compared with 179.87 billion naira during the corresponding period in 2025.

She said the increase of 73.52 billion naira reflected the Command’s commitment to revenue generation, trade facilitation and regulatory compliance in line with government fiscal policies.

During the visit, Babandede toured the Lekki Deep Sea Port and the Lagos Free Trade Zone headquarters, where he met investors and operators within the zone.

He expressed satisfaction with feedback from stakeholders, saying Customs officers had continued to support the growth of the trade zone through efficient operations and collaboration with businesses.
