Shakira, Burna Boy Unveil Official 2026 World Cup Anthem

Colombian pop star Shakira and Nigerian Grammy-winning Afrobeats singer Burna Boy are set to release “Dai Dai”, the official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, on May 14.

World football governing body FIFA selected the track as the tournament’s official anthem ahead of the competition, which will be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States from June 11 to July 19. The 2026 World Cup kicks off on June 11, with Mexico facing South Africa at Estadio Azteca.

Shakira shared a minute-long teaser of the song on her X account, featuring Burna Boy. In the clip, Shakira appears on the pitch of Maracanã Stadium holding the “Trionda”, the official World Cup match ball, while singing part of the song in English as Burna Boy harmonised alongside her.

The pair were later joined by dancers dressed in the colours of countries participating in the tournament. The video, also shared by the official FIFA World Cup account, ended with fireworks above the stadium and the message: “We’re ready!” Shakira previously performed Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), the official anthem of the 2010 FIFA World Cup hosted by South Africa. Released in May 2010 and featuring Freshlyground, the song became a global hit and remains one of the most recognised World Cup anthems.
